Ways to Organize Art Competition for Students

Art competitions, especially drawing and painting competitions, are welcomed by most students. As a result, schools and clubs often organize competitions for the students to participate in. However, organizing an art competition is not easy. Many things need to be kept in mind. They are discussed below-

Venue

To host a drawing competition for students, the first thing to decide on is the venue. Usually, when such competitions are organized in schools, the venue is the school itself. However, for other competitions hosted at a state or national level, venues need to be decided where all the participants can be accommodated. In addition, the place should be easily accessible, and students can freely use their imagination in such areas. If not indoors, outdoor parks are also sometimes used as a venue for art competitions.

Target Group

The competition target group should also be evaluated before hosting any art competition. For example, junior school, middle school, and high school groups are usually segregated for school students. Moreover, state-level and national-level competitions also specifically target a group of advanced participants.

Competition Theme

It is suitable for the students if art competitions have a theme. In such cases, the organizers need to come up with a proper theme themselves. However, many painting competitions for students do not provide any particular theme and allow them to draw whatever they want using their imagination.

Art Supplies

Standard art supplies such as drawing sheets should be provided to all students. In addition, students usually carry their pencils, colors, and other sketching tools. However, hosts should always have some art supplies backed up if needed.

Prize and Certificates

Students will feel motivated and self-satisfied in any art competition when they win it. Therefore, prizes may be arranged for the winners and runner-ups. If there is more than one category, prizes should be arranged for all categories. If not prizes, participation certificates can be handed out to all participants to motivate them to participate in art competitions again.

Appointing Judges

Having judges evaluate the students' art is also a part of hosting an art competition. For schools, the art teachers can be the judges themselves. However, for any other form of competition, proper judges who can critically appreciate the paintings are good to have. These judges will decide the winners and runners-up from different categories.

Final Words

Organizing a poetry competition for students is not easy, but it has its rewards. Seeing bright young minds participating in something they love feels worth itself. Moreover, the students get a platform to fully explore their creative side, and it is an excellent experience for everyone.
